In Windows Excel 2013 and 2016, after you click the checkbox in the Add-ins Available list, the Add-Ins tab may not appear until you quit Excel and restart. Instead, if your add-in creates a 2007-and-later ribbon and does not use the pre-2007 methods, then Excel will not show an 'Add-Ins' tab. Main features: - Preview trends with recommended charts and one-click forecasting. - Link tables and run complex calculations quickly with Power Pivot. By Sometimes, the best route for entering code for Excel 2016 is the most direct one. Entering VBA code directly involves well, entering the code directly. In other words, you type the code by using your keyboard. Entering and editing text in a VBA module works as you might expect. You can select, copy, cut, paste, and do other things to the text. Use the Tab key to indent some of the lines to make your code easier to read. Indenting isn’t necessary, but it’s a good habit to acquire. A single line of VBA code can be as long as you need it to be. However, you may want to use the line-continuation characters to break up lengthy lines of code. ![]() To continue a single line of code (also known as a statement) from one line to the next, end the first line with a space followed by an underscore (_). Then continue the statement on the next line. And don’t forget the space. An underscore character that’s not preceded by a space won’t do the job. Here’s an example of a single statement split into three lines: Selection.Sort Key1:=Range(“A1”), _ Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlGuess, _ Orientation:=xlTopToBottom This statement would perform exactly the same way if it were entered in a single line (with no line-continuation characters). Notice that the second and third lines of this statement are indented. Indenting is optional, but it helps clarify the fact that these lines are not separate statements. The white-coated engineers who designed the VBE anticipated that people would be making mistakes. Therefore, the VBE has multiple levels of undo and redo. If you deleted a statement that you shouldn’t have, click the Undo button on the toolbar (or press Ctrl+Z) until the statement shows up again. After undoing, you can use the Redo button to perform the changes you’ve undone. Are you ready to enter some real-live code? Try the following steps: • Create a new workbook in Excel. • Press Alt+F11 to activate the VBE. • Click the new workbook’s name in the Project window. • Choose Insert → Module to insert a VBA module into the project. • Type the following code in the module: Sub GuessName() Msg = “Is your name “ & Application.UserName & “?” Ans = MsgBox(Msg, vbYesNo) If Ans = vbNo Then MsgBox “Oh, never mind.” If Ans = vbYes Then MsgBox “I must be psychic!” End Sub • Position the cursor anywhere within the text you typed and press F5 to execute the procedure. F5 is a shortcut for the Run → Run Sub/UserForm command. If you entered the code correctly, Excel executes the procedure, and you can respond to the simple dialog box. Remember, the text in the dialog box will be different. The GuessName procedure displays this dialog box. When you enter the code listed in Step 5, you might notice that the VBE makes some adjustments to the text you enter.

Your Word document can contain a lot of different types of objects aside from plain text. This can include items such as pictures, videos, clip art and more. However, a document can also contain objects which present your text in a different way. One such object is the text box, which you can use to place document text that you wish to include outside of your main document. Text boxes include their own formatting options, and one of the options available to Word 2010 documents is a rotation element. This means that you can type text inside a text box, then rotate the entire box as needed. Our tutorial below will show you what you need to do to your document in order to rotate any text boxes that you have placed. I am trying to having two-column text flow around tables and figures that I place in text boxes that I am trying to anchor. After inserting and formatting the text boxes, I find that revisions to certain text, or changing the spacing between certain text boxes and the text causes the text box to 'jump' to another page. Rotating a Text Box in Word 2010 Note that this method will only work for Word files with the.docx file extension. Files with the.doc extension do not support rotated text boxes. If you do not see the green handle that we reference below, then it is very likely that your file is saved in the.doc file format. You can fix this by clicking File -> Save As -> clicking the drop-down menu next to Save as type, then selecting the Word Document option at the top of the list. You can then click the Save button to change the file format. This is going to create a copy of the original document, but with the.docx file type instead. So, for example, if your original document was Report.doc, the new document would be Report.docx. Step 1: Open the.docx document containing the text box that you wish to rotate. Step 2: Click anywhere inside of the text box. Step 3: Click and hold the green handle at the top of the text box. ![]() ![]() Step 4: Rotate the text box as needed, while continuing to hold down your mouse button. Once the box is at the desired rotation, release the mouse button. You can also rotate a text box by clicking inside the text box, then clicking the Format tab at the top of the window, under Drawing Tools. Click the Rotate button in the Arrange section of the navigational ribbon, then click your desired rotation option. Note that you will need to click in another part of your document, outside of the text box, to see how the rotation looks. Do you need to remove the border from your text box? Will show you how. In the mouse applet of the Control Panel there're several options that could help. First you can make the pointers larger. You can also use high contrast pointers, and you can turn on mouse trails. There're also a number of things you can do in the Ease of use applet. To get to the Control Panel, click Start -> Control Panel. I don't know of anything in Windows that would move the pointer to the middle of the screen. There may be some 3rd party utility program to do it, but I've never encountered it if there is. You might try a Google search. I hope this helps. Microsoft Office 2016 - Unmistakably Office, designed for Mac. Mar 13, 2014 by Sebastian Raschka I just went through some pain (again) when I wanted to install some of Python’s scientific libraries on my second Mac. I summarized the setup and installation process for future reference. If you encounter any different or additional obstacles let me know, and please feel free to make any suggestions to improve this short walkthrough. Sections • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Anaconda and Miniconda Alternatively, instead of going through all the manual steps listed in the following sections, there is the for scientific computing. Although Anaconda is distributed by Continuum Analytics, it is completely free and includes more than 125 packages for science and data analysis. The installation procedure is nicely summarized here: If this is too much, the might be right for you. Miniconda is basically just a Python distribution with the Conda package manager, which let’s us install a list of Python packages into a specified conda environment. $[bash]> conda create -n myenv python =3 $[bash]> conda install -n myenv numpy scipy matplotlib ipython Note: environments will be created in ROOT_DIR/envs by default, you can use the -p instead of the -n flag in the conda commands above in order to specify a custom path. If you we decided pro Anaconda or Miniconda, we are basically done at this point. The following sections are explaining a more (semi)-manual approach to install the packages individually using pip. Consider a virtual environment In order to not mess around with our system packages, we should consider setting up a virtual environment when we want to install the additional scientific packages. ![]() ![]() To set up a new virtual environment, we can use the following command. >> import numpy If you want to see a few examples of how to operate with NumPy arrays, you can check out my Installing SciPy While the clang compiler worked fine for compiling the C source code for numpy, we now need an additional Fortran compiler in order to install scipy. Installing a Fortran Compiler Unfortunately, MacOS 10.9 Mavericks doesn’t come with a Fortran compiler, but it is pretty easy to download and install one. For example, gfortran for MacOS 10.9 can be downloaded from Just double-click on the downloaded.DMG container and follow the familiar MacOS X installation procedure. Once it is installed, the gfortran compiler should be available from the command line. We can test it by typing. ![]() This video shows how you can run Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft SQL Server on a Mac OSX machine using Virtualization Technology such as Parallels for Desktop. TFS can use either TFVC (Team Foundation Version Control) or Git for the source control part. You don't have to use an external Git server, it has an internal one - with the data stored in the TFS SQL database. You create your first repo when you create the Team Project, but you can add repos later and you can mix TFVC and Git repos in the same Team Project - since 2015.2 I think. Microsoft is still in the denial and marketing speak phase but TFVC is basically dead, even Microsoft is using Git for all their new repos. I'm ready to bet Visual Studio Code and Visual Studio for Mac will never connect to TFVC. ![]() Edit: I lost my bet for Visual Studio Code, it can connect to TFVC using the since version 1.116.0 (2017/04/12). |
